Make Your House Look More Expensive

Your house and how it looks says a lot about you – whether you want it to or not. When you invite people into your home they are probably going to spend most of their time in your kitchen or in your living room. However, this won’t hold true if you are

providing a showing or if you are getting people into your home for a sales event.

Do you want your home to look more luxurious? Yeah, we thought so. The great news is that you don’t have to spend tonnes of cash in order to make it look like you’ve spent a lot of money. Instead, we have tips to make your home appear more regal with

emptying your savings accounts.

Tip One: Invest In Large-Scale Art Pieces

Nothing spark conversation and says cool luxe living like an art piece. We urge you to stay away from places like Ikea, Bed Bath & Beyond and Prints online for your art. That’s the opposite look and feel you want to emboss. Rather, check out estate sales, commission a local artist or if you have a really tight budget, do it yourself.

Tip Two: Invest In Lighting

Lighting really creates the ambiance of a home. If your wallet is not deep enough to redo the living room and kitchen with pocket lighting and pendant lighting to create a chic sophistication we suggest looking at goodwill stores or Value Village, Salvation Army and Village Greene to find older retro base lighting pieces. Once you have your base you can go to any lighting store to find the lampshades or use your old ones if they work.

If you cannot afford to change anything one suggestion we urge you to consider is adding dimmers to your switches. When people walk through your home and the lighting is bright and offensive this sets the tone for the house tour. If you can have dimmers and create a calming ambiance in your home – it would be much better.

Tip Three: Find Antique Quality Pieces To Add To Your Rooms

If you have a wet bar scour consignment stores or garage sales to find barware, glasses, mirrors, etc. You can even use those pieces if you do not have a bar but rather a station in your house where you have set up a drink location. Adding barware and a crystal decanter to your living room ads a quality of sophistication.

Back to tip number one, if you find art work you hate, but a frame you love and it has a high end quality appeal to it, purchase the art and find a print to put into the frame.

If finding antique pieces in challenging in Saskatoon take an older item and find a DIY tutorial to make pieces in your home appear older or more rustic.

Tip Four: Add Textiles To Your Home To Add Elegance

If you find pillows, throws and decor to be too expensive and out of your budget you are going to need to get creative and by creative, we mean crafty!

Head to Farbricland, buy beautiful scraps (They can range from 50%-90% off) grab a few similar and a few contrasting colors, patterns and textures. If you can use old pillows and cover them, do that. If not, you need to buy some cotton batting. Once you have material in hand, contact a local seamstress. These can easily be found on Kijiji and will probably cost you about $10 per pillow. In the end, you can have the pillows and throws of your liking for around $20.00.

Tip Five: Add Metallics To Your Rooms

Nothing says elegances, class and sophistication like adding some metallic to your room. This can be as simple as finding all decorations in brass, gold, silver, a combination and adding some sparkle to it.

Metallics also add some glitz and glam to an otherwise bland room.

Don’t go as far as adding disco balls to your rooms, but add enough to ensure people feel the pizzazz.
